In my work I explore form, colour/pattern and line. The themes for my work have always been inspired by nature: my mother’s fabulous flower garden, the magnificent hardwood trees all around where I grew up, wild flowers, the river and all its wildlife, birds, stone circles and dolmen.
I have always loved art and following my Leaving Cert I attended Limerick College of Art & Design studying Fine Art: Painting from 1985 -1989.
A lot of my work in the past has been using the medium of Batik, culminating in several solo exhibitions: Foynes Library (1995), University of Limerick (1997), Dooradoyle Library (2000) and commissions: Esat Digiphone, Mid Western Health Board & Private clients.
Copper wire features in a lot of my current work. I bend and tie various gauges and colours of copper wire, sometimes using copper wire thread to sew in pieces of painted water colour paper. In my final year in Mary I. college I created three copper wire pieces inspired by student gymnastics which were subsequently bought by the college and are now hanging in the new sports building, An Tailteann.
I also use other mediums such as drawing (charcoal, pencil and pen & ink) painting and Lino printing.
I was the featured artist for the Cashel arts festival 2014 and had a solo exhibition of my work in Ardmayle Church, Cashel, Co. Tipperary and the library in Cashel.
I am also a qualified Primary School teacher, having studied in Mary Immaculate college from 2004 - 2007 and have been teaching in various primary schools since. Prior to training as a teacher I worked as a Special needs assistant full time for two Years.
